Assasian/Ranger worth playing?
If my job keeps going good I might be getting Guild Wars: factions pretty soon, (Finally) but I wanted to do some research first.
I was roaming around the cornors of cyberspace and was surprised to find a whole lot of hate going towards this class. Some of these comments include: The Noobiest class of Factions The new Wamohs Garbage So is there any hope for me to even try to use this kind of character? Or should I just scrap the idea? |

The Assassin/Ranger is a very nice class to play. Unfortunately, most Assassins in game either choose /Ranger or /Monk as a secondary, and many of these players have given the profession a bad reputation for the "whammo" mentality - instead of going in, getting a kill, and getting out, they try to take on several opponents at once and wind up dying.
I think an A/R is a very versatile class, and the skills actually complement each other very well. Just beware that finding a group to accept you may be difficult...you may wind up forming most of the groups yourself. |

You can give the Ranger prof a "test-drive" at the start (well, not immediately), along with the other profs. It's also advised you try ALL secondary profs as the end result will be quite a bit of XP. And don't abandon the "talk to Togo" quests you get after each one, just switch to the next set of quests and you can finish all the talk to Togo quests in one go.
Anyways, try the prof out when you get chance... and choose whatever floats your boat when you're done. |

AssRans (lol) ARE worth playing. Option of having a pet, ranged attacks when you need them, poison...... it's all good. Just don't expect a lot of pug help, stick with your Guildies or hench it out.

Whatever you do, don't make it an assassin with a pet. Whenever the pet dies, your skills are dissabled for 8 seconds. That means when you shadowstep to kill a caster, your pet will charge in after you and die, making your attack instantly worthless.
